More Wanderers More Wanderers

You may be more familiar with Adelaide roots-rockers Wanderers under their previous moniker, Wasted Wanderers, but the band's talent for penning damn good tunes is one thing that hasn't changed, as sophomore EP Something For A Distraction effortlessly demonstrates.

Premiering on theMusic.com.au today and set for release at the end of the week, Something For A Distraction is a six-track collection of earnest, infectious, blues-flecked jams that entice the listener from the outset, from lilting opener Loco to the downtempo strut of pseudo-gospel closer Mary Jane and everywhere in-between.

The group of songs on Something For A Distraction paint a picture of a band well in command of their strengths and unafraid to experiment a little, as additional instrumentation such as horns, slide guitar, organ and more dot the collective soundscape.

No strangers to the live arena, having previously appeared at such high-profile events as WOMADelaide and Surfers Paradise Live, among others, Wanderers will be doing as their name implies and hitting the road for an extensive national tour from early March, when they kick off with a show at Rodney's Bait & Tackle in Mosman Park on the 9th.

They move onto a support slot for Big Orange at Perth's Four5Nine directly after before re-assuming headline duties in Margaret River, Brisbane and Miami. They also play Brisbane again, for the Triffid Americana event, as well as having shows lined up in Manly, Maitland, Newcastle, Tanunda (for the Silver Raven Festival), Collingwood and Adelaide, where they close out the run more than two months after they started at Jive.

Something For A Distraction will be released this Friday, 17 February, via MGM. Check out the group's Bandcamp in the interim for more of their stuff.
