Inexplicably loveable multi-hyphenate Josh Thomas – best known as the showrunner and star of Please Like Me and Everything’s Gonna Be Okay – has announced an Australian tour for his latest stand-up comedy show, Let’s Tidy Up.

The show, which Thomas co-wrote with award-winning dramatist Lally Katz – herself best known for Goodbye Vaudeville, Charlie Mudd (2009) and The Rabbits (2015) – was debuted earlier this year in North America. The local premiere will go down on Wednesday January 31, when Thomas will take to the stage at the iconic Sydney Opera House. He’ll perform there regularly until Sunday February 18, with one-off shows in Canberra, Hobart and Newcastle set to follow.

From there, Thomas will perform another residency in Adelaide, holing up at The Garden Of Unearthly Delights from Tuesday March 5 to Sunday 10 (as part of next year’s Adelaide Fringe festival). He’ll also deliver multiple shows at the Melbourne and Brisbane Comedy Festivals, as well as further one-off performances in Cairns, Perth and Toowoomba.

Tickets for all of the shows are on sale now – find them here.

Let’s Tidy Up has been described quite simply as “a show where Josh tidies up”. The official synopsis expounds: “Tidying up is not normally the stuff of gripping drama, but for Josh, it’s like Everest – a fundamentally impossible task, like trying to defy the moon and control the tides. It’s not just about tidying, there’s also gardening, gophers and a love story.”

In a press release, Thomas said of what to expect from the unconventional one-man show: “In this show I’m going to be talking about tidying up. Which doesn’t sound very fun. But I promise it’s going to be very fun. I’m looking forward to seeing you all. Let’s get lit!”

Meanwhile, Thomas is currently working on his third TV series, Good Person, which is in development at 20th Century Studios for an as-yet-undated release on Hulu (in the US) and Disney+ (internationally).
