More The Ahern Brothers More The Ahern Brothers

Following the release of their self-titled debut album this past Friday, roots duo The Ahern Brothers are backing it up by dropping the music video for their single, Call, My Lover, premiering on theMusic.com.au today.

Shot over one weekend in Newcastle by the Spilting Films team (who also worked on The Ahern Brothers' clip for Comb That River), Josh Rennie-Hynes and Steve Grady said, "We approached the music video in the same way we wrote the song, keeping it very simple with a feeling of loneliness and mateship throughout".

The Victorian act describe Call, My Lover as a "very simple and conventional type song".

"We purposely didn't add any tricks or metaphors, nor try pretty it up with harmonies," they said.

"We're trying to convey the feeling of missing that person who connects you to home. The inspiration simply came from being on the other side of the world to the person you love - all you want is to hear their voice and hear them talk about their day."

In support of the LP, The Ahern Brothers will embark on a national tour, kicking off this Thursday in Byron Bay. For a look at all of the dates, click on theGuide.
