Triple J Unearthed alumnus Samsaruh is today releasing her brand new track, I Am A Woman, exclusively with theMusic.com.au.

The fuzz-heavy rock tune acts as a loud and fast callout to the difficulties of being a woman in a male-dominated industry, the track intended “to unite not just women but also men, to shatter the glass ceiling and stereotypes made around us”.

Speaking to The Music, the 21-year-old shared, "I Am A Woman stands for a lot of things, one of the most important things being the stigma around being a woman in rock. You’re either assigned to being just ‘one of the boys' with a masculine perspective or you’re the complete opposite, a sex symbol.

“I want I Am A Woman to encourage all women, young to old, that just because you love to flick your hair around, kick up the dust, yell the words like you never had a voice to lose and vibe to heavier music, doesn’t mean you are any less of a lady and should be treated any differently. And to the women in the music industry, to dress, speak, act, talk, walk the way you want to, not the way they want you to.”

Along with the new tune, Samsaruh is also heading out around the country throughout March and April, supporting Kingswood on their national tour. For more info on that, head on down to theGuide.
