New Zealand singer-songwriter Jenny Mitchell took a different approach with her stunning new film clip.

Filmed at Ahuriri Conservation Park in New Zealand’s South Island, it features Mitchell front and centre.

“I’m speaking straight down the lens and I’m hoping audiences will be able to feel that and connect to the emotion behind each lyric,” Mitchell told The Music.

On the song’s lyrical content, she noted: “For me, one of the best parts of being a songwriter is being able to not only tell my stories through music, but tell the stories of those around me too. Let Me Be is one of those songs and it really is quite an honour to be able to create a song about my mum and dad.

“They know how important the little things are, which is where this song came from. Quite literally! One of the first lines I wrote was, ‘Let me be your honey,’ which was inspired by dad’s passionate love of honey on toast.”

After recently being named Recorded Music NZ Country Artist of the Year 2019 as well as Southland Entertainer of the Year 2019, Mitchell will venture to Australia for a run of Victorian tour dates alongside Fanny Lumsden.
