Dave & Central Cee Remain On Top With #1 Chart Position, While Taylor Swift Slumps

Continuing their second lap at #1 are Dave and Central Cee with Sprinter, logging a sixth week at the top in Australia. 

The track by the British rap pair is also holding at the top in their home country (seventh straight week), Ireland and New Zealand (both sixth week), plus the song also becomes one of eight tunes this decade to have scored six weeks at the singles summit. The last few tracks to do this (and only six weeks) were Unholy for Sam Smith and Kim Petras (last at #1 on January 9, 2023) and Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift (last at #1 on December 5, 2022). Plus the pair join six other acts who've scored six weeks at the top during this decade, SAINt JHN, DaBaby, Jason DeRulo, Jawsh 685, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. 

BTS member Jeon Jung-kook, under his moniker Jungkook, sees his first lead-solo chart entry, Seven, debut at #2 this week. Unlike the Craig David song 7 Days (HP-4, peaked January 2001), this new entry goes through the week a bit more explicitly, with the South Korean singer teaming up with American rapper Latto, who was last within the Top Ten with Big Energy (HP-6, peaked on both May 9 and 16, 2022). This makes it her second Top Ten entry and also her highest-charting, while Jungkook lands his second-ever chart entry as he appeared on the Charlie Puth track Left And Right (HP-19 upon entry July 4, 2022). The song also debuted first week at #2 in New Zealand and Japan, #3 in England, #4 in Lithuania, at its namesake of #7 in Ireland, at #10 in South Korea, and #12 in Germany. 

After a single week at the top in all of its chart territories, Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo is down one spot again this week to #3, while its entry at the top in both the US and Canada last week sees it drop to #5 in both of those countries. It also sits at #2 in both England and Ireland, and follows the same chart-path in New Zealand this week (#1 to #2 and now #3). Regaining the top spot in the US this week is Morgan Wallen with Last Night; the track also scores its first-ever week at the top in Canada, while locally it dips one spot to #4. 

Taylor Swift had four songs within the Top Ten last week, while this week she is down to only one, as Cruel Summer drops one spot to #5. She more than makes up for her lack of Top Ten singles by scoring six Top Ten albums this week, including the top spot for Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) for a second week. The next entry is the second of three stable tracks within the Top Ten, Luke Combs' Fast Car idling at #6. The other non-mover is down at #9 for David Kushner and Daylight, holding there for a third week and scoring a ▲Platinum sales certification too. Flowers by Miley Cyrus drops to its lowest chart position of #10. 

After three weeks of charting, the Gunna track FukUMean jumps up eight places to land at a new peak of #7 this week, becoming his second ever Top Ten appearance after his guest spot on the Internet Money track Lemonade (HP-5, peaked November 9, 2020). It jumps eight places to #4 in New Zealand this week. There is a second Top Ten debut this week which occurs at #8, for Billie Eilish and her Barbie soundtrack entry What Was I Made For?.

It’s the first song from the just-issued (July 21) album from the Barbie movie (which opened locally July 20) to land a Top Ten entry, although with the movie’s opening occurring on the same day as the end-of-the-chart week (Thursday), the songs from the film will most likely jump up higher after a full week of sales and screenings. Overall this becomes the 14th Top Ten entry for Eilish, with her last being Happier Than Ever (HP-3, peaked August 16, 2021). Overseas, her new track lands its first week within the Top Ten in England (#10), Ireland (#5) and New Zealand (#6). 

TOP 20

NEW PEAK: The only song scoring a new peak within the Top 20 is at #11, as The Weeknd, Playboi Carti and Madonna move up two places with Popular from the TV series The Idol, which stars The Weeknd. The second ▲Platinum certification this week goes to Cupid by FIFTY FIFTY, which is back up a couple of spots to #16.

Jumps of five places each were achieved by Calm Down by Rema and Selena Gomez (#19 to #14) and Kill Bill by SZA (with Doja Cat) [#20 to #15], while Zach Bryan is back up six spots to #19 with Something In The Orang. A seven-place jumps occurs for November tourist Post Malone and Chemical (#24 to #17), back within the Top 20 for the first time since the song debuted at #14 on April 24. His latest single Overdrive debuts at #68 this week, and his long-charting (241 weeks) Sunflower is back up nine spots to #36. Plus, he makes a guest appearance on the country track Dial Drunk by Noah Kahan, which re-enters at #96 this week thanks to his guest vocals. 

All of these resurging songs are the flotsam and jetsam that returns to the chart-shore once the Taylornami recedes back down the chart, as last week's 20 Top 50 and 32 Top 100 entries is this week reduced down to seven Top 50 and 13 Top 100 placements. Swift’s biggest concentration of tracks are within the Top 20 this week, as Anti-Hero is down one spot to #13, Karma only dips two places to #18, and her highest entry from last week, I Can See You (Taylor’s Version – From The Vault) is down 15 places to land at #20 after a single week within the Top Ten. 

TOP 30

NEW PEAKS: Barbie World by Nicki Minaj with Ice Spice and Aqua jumps up 19 places to land at #23, one place higher than its former peak two weeks ago. Last week's only non-Taylor Top 50 entry was Super Shy by NewJeans, which moves up one spot to #26. 

The first single issued from the Barbie soundtrack was by Dua Lipa with Dance The Night, which thanks to the movie opening this past week is up 13 places to land at #27. Further climbing tracks are Boy's A Liar, Pt. 2 by PinkPantheress and IceSpice, and I Ain't Worried by OneRepublic, both rising four spots each to #24 and #25 respectively. Seven-place jumps go to Miracle by Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding (#35 to #28) and All My Life by Lil' Durk and J. Cole (#37 to #30). Lewis Capaldi by Someone You Loved is up five places to #29.

TOP 40

There are no more peaks for the rest of the Top 50, but everything apart from Swift’s tracks are rising back up this week. Her two entries in this chart region are Style (#31 to #35) and Blank Space (#36 to #38). Double-digit jumps occur for Heat Waves by Glass Animals (#46 to #31), Creepin' by Metro Boomin, The Weeknd and 21 Savage (#44 to #34), Escapism. by RAYE and 070 Shake (#47 to #37), The Kind Of Love We Make by Luke Combs (#52 to #39) and Shivers by Ed Sheeran (#57 to #40). 

TOP 50

Padam Padam by Kylie Minogue is the smallest rising track within the Top 50, up five places to #44, with the track dropping to #14 in both England and Ireland this week. The other small rise is a six-place move back up to #48 for Ed Sheeran and Eyes Closed (now ▲Platinum in sales). The seventh and final Taylor Swift entry is another of last week's Top Ten debuts, Enchanted (Taylor’s Version), which plummets 42 spots to land at #49. Her six lower 50 entries are Cardigan (#63 to #56), Lover (#69 to #61), Shake it Off (#65 to #62), Don't Blame Me (#77 to #67), and then two more of last week's new entries, Back To December (#11 to #83) and Mine (#10 to #94). 

Jumping back into the Top 50 this week are seven further tracks, starting with You Proof by Morgan Wallen (#51 to #41), People by Libianca (55 to #42), half-year-charted (26 weeks) Sure Thing by Miguel (#58 to #43), Save Your Tears by The Weeknd and Ariana Grande (72 to #45), Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) by Elton John and Dua Lipa (61 to #46), Mr. Brightside by The Killers (62 to #47) and No Role Modelz by J. Cole (66 to #50).

Mention must also go to Lizzo, who started her national tour last week in Perth, rolling across the country this past week. The tour has helped two of her songs to return, About Damn Time (#81) and 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready) [#98]. Plus, she has the Barbie track Pink as the lead song on the new soundtrack.

#12 – Rush by Troye Sivan (EMI Australia). It’s the first single from his third album, Something To Give Each Other, due October 13 as his first studio album in five years. The song also makes a Top Ten debut in Ireland and Lithuania (both #8), first-week entries in England and New Zealand (both #22), plus a #30 entry on the US Dance Chart. The high-energy dance track is also being copied on TikTok for its synchronised dance moves. Overall this is Troye's 16th Top 100 entry, 11th Top 50 entry and seventh Top 20 entry, plus his third-highest-charting after Happy Little Pill (HP-10, August 2010) and alongside Lauv on I'm So Tired (HP-11, March 2019).
