Tim Finn Inks Global Publishing Deal With Kobalt

Split Enz mastermind and pioneering solo artist Tim Finn has signed a global publishing deal with Kobalt, the independent music publisher has announced.

Finn has more than earned his reputation as one of the greatest songwriters of his generation. From Split Enz to his solo albums, Crowded House and collaborations with his brother Neil under the moniker of the Finn Brothers, he’s been responsible for cultural touchstones in Australia and New Zealand.

According to a press release, Kobalt will administer Finn’s vast catalogue of songs, including the Split Enz classics I See Red, Six Months In A Leaky Boat, and I Hope I Never, as well as the Crowded House hits Four Seasons In One Day, Weather With You, and It’s Only Natural. In addition to those works, Kobalt will administer Finn’s more recent music, which features soundtracks for film, television, and musical theatre.

Finn said of the signing, “Simon Moor and his team at Kobalt are energised music lovers. I’m excited to see what we can do together. It feels like a new chapter is waiting to be written for me and my songs.”

Simon Moor, the Managing Director of Kobalt in the APAC region, said he’s “thrilled” to announce the partnership with Finn, describing him as a “legendary figure” in music.

Moor continued, “From his groundbreaking work with Split Enz to his contributions to Crowded House and his illustrious solo career, Tim has consistently showcased his incredible songwriting talent.

“This agreement brings together Top 10 hits like ‘Weather With You’ from the Woodface album, ‘Dirty Creature’ and ‘Six Months In A Leaky Boat,’ from Split Enz, solo classics such as ‘Fraction Too Much Friction’ and ‘Persuasion,’ which spent 6 weeks at No. 1 on the newly established U.S. radio format Triple A.
