About the Role

We’re seeking a passionate, experienced, highly motivated, and creative A&R Assistant to join our music publishing team. This role is perfect for a hard-working individual with a deep love of music, a keen ear for talent, strong administrative skills, and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the A&R team and ensuring the smooth running of daily operations. They will be resourceful, organised, self-driven and possess excellent communication skills.

This is a full-time position based in either our Melbourne or Sydney office. Due to the nature of this role, flexibility and the willingness to work outside standard hours, including evenings and weekends, are essential.

  • Assisting the A&R and Creative department with all administrative duties.

  • Monitor industry trends, chart performance and emerging opportunities and create detailed reports as required.

  • Manage and maintain publishing database and contact list to ensure accuracy and accessibility.

  • Coordinate song writing sessions, studio bookings, and schedules.

  • Assist in identifying and researching new songwriters and producers.

  • Attend live shows, industry events, and showcases to scout talent and represent the company.

  • Collaborate closely with Mushroom Music’s publishing and label team.

  • Develop a deep knowledge of the company’s music catalogue, releases and priorities.

Sounds like you? If so, you will bring the following –

  • Experience: Previous experience in A&R, music publishing, or a related field is essential.

  • Team: Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team as well as autonomously.

  • Music Knowledge: A passion for music and live shows, with a deep understanding of various music genres and markets.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with solid social and interpersonal skills.

  • Organisation: Exceptional organisational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines. High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and social media platforms, and familiarity with DISCO (preferred but not essential).

  • Mindset: A proactive, resourceful, and team-oriented approach to work.

While we prefer experienced A&R Assistants who can hit the ground running, we are also open to creative individuals who are currently immersed in the music industry and who have a great understanding of the Australian music scene. We’re looking for candidates whose existing skills we can leverage while supporting their growth and development in the role.

Please submit a resume and cover letter telling us about you and what makes you the perfect candidate for the role. Please also include your salary expectations within your cover letter.

We will be reviewing the applications as they come in and commencing interviews quickly – so please don’t delay in applying.
