The prolific songwriter-producer is a jack of all trades, and in the lead up to his forthcoming EP, he’s laying all of his cards out.

If you’re familiar with the work of ex-Brisbane, now Sydney-based songwriter and producer 1tbsp, you’d already know everything he released is a destined dancefloor filler. His latest single is no different, partnering with Australian/Venezuelan artist cherry chola and Naarm-based DIY electronic producer Purient for the hip-swaying Rush (Missing Out On Me).
1tbsp is the alternative dance project of Maxwell Byrne, who also goes by the stage name Golden Vessel. Since the mid to late 2010s, his work as Golden Vessel has crafted a unique sonic imprint that toys with alternative pop, electronic, hip hop and indie rock elements. Never been one to steer clear of experimentation, he went on to drop consistently over the years as Golden Vessel in the form of two independently released EPs and four albums; his latest Making Friends With The Space Around Me dropping last year. Eventually, his authentic efforts and works would be celebrated on a larger scale as he would be nominated for a Grammy award in 2023 for the track Till It’s Even with BAYNK.
The multifaceted artist has since taken a leap into indie-house and dance territory as 1tbsp, releasing his widely acclaimed debut EP kanashi in 2021. Four years on, 1tsbp still manages to crack the code on bodyshaking music with an undeniable groove, soundtracking parties both in Australia and globally. As he gears up to release his forthcoming EP Hotel Living, the artist is providing a teaser of all teasers through Rush (Missing Out On Me).
Marking his second collaboration with cherry chola, the track serves up playful dance production and lays the perfect foundation for chola’s hypnotic mix of English and Spanish vocals. It’s a vibrant, genre-blending party anthem that not only speaks to 1tbsp’s impressive discography of dance cuts, but showcases the next chapter in the artist’s musical handbook.
1tbsp will take Hotel Living on the road across Australia this May before American fans can catch him up close and personal opening for Disclosure in Salt Lake City the following month. During his visit, 1tbsp will also play Electric Forest and Shambhala festivals in Michigan and British Columbia. All tickets to his upcoming shows can be purchased here.
