It's an all Aussie prog affair this October, with Melbourne's Alarum and Adelaide's Dyssidia teaming up for a run of shows to celebrate their new albums.
Remember mosh pits and breakdowns and riffs ever-so-brutally caressing your senses? Well, as of this October, all you prog lovers will have something to smile about, with Melbourne fusion kings Alarum and Adelaide prog wizards Dyssidia teaming up for a special run of shows to spice up your life.
Combining forces to celebrate the release of Alarum's fourth full-length Circle's End, as well as Dyssidia's debut LP Costly Signals that dropped last year, the official Circle's End / Costly Signals tour will also feature Brissie heavyweights Minus Life who are (fittingly) also launching their new album as part of the October proceedings.
Kicking off in Brisbane on Saturday 9 October at the hallowed Mansfield Tavern, the shows will also hit Melbourne, Adelaide (minus Minus Life), and close out on Saturday 23 October at The Vanguard in Sydney as art of the Under The Southern Cross metal festival throwing down that same day.
With the bands poised and ready to christen their respective new tunes and let loose in a live setting, this upcoming prog party is welcome news as Australia continues to grapple with COVID-19 lockdowns, uncertainty and general fatigue. And, as Alarum frontman Mark Palfreyman sums up: it's about damn time this show got on the road.
"Over the past 25 years we’ve had many years between our album releases. It’s now been over a year since our latest album release Circle’s End and it’s time to get out there and do what we enjoy most," said Palfreyman in today's announcement. "

"With more shows outside Australia than in Australia the past 15 years, we’re extremely pumped to be teaming up with the amazing Dyssidia for these action-packed shows.
"Along with the return of Brisbane’s Minus Life and a ton of amazing support bands at all shows, it’ll be a long overdue album launch celebration!"
Equally pumped is Dyssidia drummer Liam Weedall, following the group's album release smack dab at the start of Australia first plunging into lockdown in early 2020.
"Since we released our album in the same month that the whole country first started locking down and we spent most of the year leading up to that finalising the album and not playing many shows, we are incredibly excited to finally be performing these new tracks around the country," Weedall shared in today's presser.
"Plus, what better band to be doing this with than the legendary Alarum! If you're a fan of progressive metal, you'd be crazy to miss out on this.”
Can't wait until October to get a blasting of prog magic in your ears? Well, Dyssidia have got you covered in the meantime, today also releasing a music video for their track Hope's Remorseful Retreat to celebrate the tour announce.
