More Ben Harper More Ben Harper

Soulful blues and folk stalwart Ben Harper has teamed with his mother Ellen Harper - a multi-instrumentalist in her own right - for a new album, titled Childhood Home.

The unique concept of the ten-track album is a reflection on the pair's family life; Ben's musical upbringing and his love for many different instruments and genres was heavily encouraged by Ellen, who was a single parent

“Without that upbringing, I don't think I'd be doing what I do,” Ben had previously said about his musical childhood.

It seems the Harpers truly are a musical family - Ben's maternal grandparents established The Folk Music Center and Museum in Claremont, California in 1958.
