He'll have in debut record in tow

More Blanck Mass More Blanck Mass

Englishman Benjamin John Power, aka Blanck Mass, is packing up his midi and keyboard and heading to Australia for the first time this June for a handful of shows.

Power, who is also one half of the electronica duo, Fuck Buttons, has operated under the alias Blanck Mass since 2010, originally just dabbling in ambient soundscapes without any background percussion. He began to make headway when his track Sundowner was performed by the London Symphony Orchestra in the 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony.

His debut LP Dumb Flesh, released last year, is one of geographical encapsulation. Having started the production and recording process in Fuck Buttons' Space Mountain studio, before moving onto an dimly lit attic in Hatch End, North London and finishing it up at Power's new house in Edinburgh, he almost highlights this constant relocation. Through the unique, fluctuating sound patterns and contrasts between songs, you can sense the different moods or atmospheres he was experiencing during each given song.

With such unique production, it will be interesting to see how he brings this album to life on stage. Blanck Mass's maiden voyage to Australia will hit The Curtin in Melbourne on 9 June, The Zoo Project in Sydney on 10 June and Dark Mofo Festival in Hobart on 11 June.
