Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino has cancelled his upcoming February 2025 tour dates in Australia and New Zealand due to a prolonged recovery journey.

In October, the 3005 artist cancelled the remainder of his North American and European tour dates for his The New World Tour after 16 dates of his US shows were postponed to focus on his “physical health”. This was sparked by “an ailment that had become apparent” after he was taken to a Houston hospital.

On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote to fans that surgery has been scheduled and he will need “time out to heal”.

“My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously.  With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. “

After the news broke, the certainty of Gambino’s Australian and New Zealand tour dates slated for early 2025 were up in the air. While tour promoters Frontier Touring were quick to address concerns, citing to The Music that the tour would be going ahead, today they have contacted ticketholders to advise that Childish Gambino’s upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand has been cancelled.

In an email to attendees via Ticketek, Gambino wrote:

Unfortunately, my path to recovery is taking longer than expected. The upcoming concerts in Australia and New Zealand are cancelled. One of the last things I'd ever want to do is disappoint my fans. I really appreciate the support you have shown and know that I will do what I can to give you an exceptional experience when the time is right. Thank you.

All eligible ticketholders will be able to seek out a full refund which is to be automatically generated by Ticketek (including refundable ticket purchase, if relevant) to the buyer’s original payment method used. Those who purchased tickets at a Ticketek agency or through Ticketek gift vouchers will need to contact Ticketek by Friday 20 December 2024 for a refund. All refunds are expected to take up to 30 business days to process.

While the artist has reassured fans that the Bando Stone & The New World live experience will happen when the time aligns, we at The Music wish Gambino a steady, and soothing recovery journey ahead.
