Just two days before they were scheduled to kick it off, Eliza & The Delusionals have been forced to postpone their Australian tour due to an injury sustained by frontwoman Eliza Klatt.

In a post shared to the band’s Instagram this afternoon (July 31), Klatt said she’d severely injured her left hand, “resulting in an emergency surgery, four screws and a plate”. She explained of the situation: “The doctors have advised that this next few weeks are crucial for the recovery if I’m [going to be able] to play guitar ever again.”

Initially scheduled to begin in Sydney (Gadigal) this Friday (August 2), the tour has now been pushed back by nearly six months. As Klatt mentioned in her post, this delay will give her time to “recover and do rehabilitation so I’m able to play guitar in the future”.

She continued: “The guys and I have worked incredibly hard to put together our best show yet for you all, and we want to be able to still do that for you.

“I want to say thank you so much to my bandmates and our entire team for being compassionate and understanding of this disappointing situation, the surgeons for taking care of me, and a huge thank you to all of you for supporting our new record and buying tickets to our tour. The whole situation has been heartbreaking as we were so excited to celebrate the release of the album with you all, but I promise it will be worth the wait.”

In closing, Klatt promised the band will share “some good news” tomorrow (August 1), imploring fans to keep an eye on their socials.

The tour will now begin on Thursday January 30, when Eliza & The Delusionals play at Jack Rabbit Slims in Perth (Boorloo). They’ll head to Adelaide (Tarndanya) next, playing the Jive Bar the following night (Friday January 31), before rounding out the weekend with a show at Howler in Melbourne (Naarm) on Sunday February 2.

From there, Eliza & The Delusionals will play the newly rescheduled Sydney show on Friday February 14 (still at the Oxford Art Factory), and wrap the tour up in Brisbane (Meanjin) with a show at The Triffid scheduled for Friday February 28.

All tickets purchased for the original dates will remain valid for the new ones, however the band are also offering refunds for those unable to attend them (available from the original point of purchase). Remaining tickets for the new dates can also be found here.

The tour comes in support of Eliza & The Delusionals’ second studio album, Make It Feel Like The Garden, which arrived last month via Cooking Vinyl. It followed up on their breakthrough 2020 album Now And Then, and was previewed with two singles: the title track arrived first in March, followed by Falling For You in May.
