Guilty Simpson & Katalyst Unite For 'Detroit's Son' Australian Tour

Guilty Simpson and Katalyst are stepping through to Australia this coming January for a short stack of live dates.

Detroit’s own hip-hop star, Guilty Simpson, finds himself riding a tour Down Under with Australia’s own Quakers co-founder Katalyst after the pair made chemistry recently when Quakers had Simpson jump on board their track Fitta Happier, a union that found the MC and producer working together on the third Guilty Simpson album for Stones Throw.

Simpson joined the Stones Throw fold for his debut album and underground classic Ode To The Ghetto in 2008 making him one of the label’s standout artists, returning later with Madlib for OJ Simpson (2010). Over his career, Simpson has worked alongside producers from New York to LA and to London and Australia and back with big named beatsmiths such as Apollo Brown, Black Milk and the late Sean Price. However, it was the late super-producer J Dilla who gave Simpson his first break on Strapped from Jaylib’s Champion Sound (2003), and As Serious As Your Life, a Four Tet remix.

Katalyst’s hard-hitting beat work has been recognised as a great fit for Guilty Simpson’s gritty and uncompromising Motor City-based rhymes. So putting their artistic voyage on the same course is a collision to be witnessed live.

Guilty Simpson and Katalyst’s ‘Detroit’s Son’ Australian Tour opens up in Brisbane’s Transit Lounge, (30 January), Laundry Bar, Melbourne, (31 January), Goodgod Small Club in Sydney (5 February) and finishing in Perth’s Mojos (6 February).
