Lil Nas X was hospitalised with sudden partial paralysis in his face, the pop and R&B star revealed yesterday (15 April).

The Old Town Road singer shared the news by taking to social media. He posted a video from a hospital bed, chuckling as he commented that he’d “lost control” of the right side of his face.

As Lil Nas attempts to laugh, the video shows the right side of his face looking expressionless. However, he can still somewhat move the right side of his mouth and his right eye.

“It’s like, what the fuck. I can’t even laugh right, bro,” the rapper and singer said in the video. “What the fuck! Oh my god. So… oh my god, bro. So… yeah.”

On his Instagram Stories, Lil Nas shows he’s in good spirits. He took the phone camera from the left side of his face to the right and joked, “We normal over here; we get crazy over here!”

He also assured worried fans that he was “okay” and to “stop being sad” for him and to “shake your ass for me instead.” He added, “Imma look funny for a lil bit, but that’s it.”

At the time of publication, it’s unclear what’s caused Lil Nas’ partial facial paralysis.

Another star who notably suffered from facial paralysis was Justin Bieber, who revealed that he had Ramsay-Hunt Syndrome in late 2022. He’s since made a full recovery.

“As you can probably see from my face, I have this syndrome called Ramsay-Hunt Syndrome, and it is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves,” Bieber explained at the time.

“This eye is not blinking; I can’t smile on this side of my face; this nostril will not move. So, there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”

Lil Nas X is set to release his long-awaited second album, Dreamboy, later this year. So far, he’s released two singles: LIGHT AGAIN! in November and Hotbox in March. In February, he joined the Crush Music Management roster. He’s currently signed to Columbia Records.
