Splendour In The Grass has confirmed it won’t be back this year, in a devastating blow to the Australian music festival scene.
In a statement posted to social media, the organisers said the event needs more time to “recharge” and will not return in 2025. However, they hinted at “lots of other huge events” to be announced later in the year.
“Hey gang, sorry it’s been so quiet, but we had a little holiday…finally. The rest of the festival team have still been busy cooking up some awesome new things for music lovers in Australia, but Splendour needs a little more time to recharge and we won’t be back this year,” the statement reads.
The festival’s statement continued, “Think of it as a breather so we can come back even bigger and better when the time is right. Lots of other huge events on the horizon so keep an ear to the ground in the coming months – we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on!”
Today’s news arrives after last year’s Splendour In The Grass was cancelled just weeks after the line-up—led by headliners Kylie Minogue, Future, and Arcade Fire—was announced. The line-up was also set to star Fontaines D.C., Turnstile, girl in red, G Flip, Baby Gravy (the collaborative project of Yung Gravy and bbno$), and more.
Last year’s Splendour In The Grass would’ve taken place at its regular home of the North Byron Parklands from Friday, 19 July, to Sunday, 21 July. Its cancellation arrived after a difficult few years for the festival, following a muddy, tumultuous edition in 2022 and an epic but undersold run in 2023.

The 2023 edition was headlined by Lizzo, Flume, and Mumford & Sons and featured Yeah Yeah Yeahs, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, J Balvin, IDLES, Sam Fender, Little Simz, Danny Brown, Cub Sport, Peach PRC, and others.
The cancellation of last year’s Splendour In The Grass marked a bleak turning point for the Australian music festival scene, with Groovin The Moo, Coastal Jam, Tent Pole, Now & Again, Wanderer and Fairbridge cancelled in early 2024.
