Story Of The Year Share New Single 'Take The Ride'

Story Of The Year are gearing up to release their sixth album, Tear Me To Pieces, on 10 March 2023 with their newest single, Take The Ride.

Take The Ride features uplifting melodies, punchy guitars, a bass guitar forward in the mix, and commanding drums. The song is equally danceable and moving, with Dan Marsala's trademark vocals lending energy throughout the track's runtime. 

"In the end, Take the Ride is a song about surrendering to what life dealt you and embracing the chaos instead of fighting it," guitarist Ryan Phillips says. "The song captures the spirit of finding freedom through a reckless adventure, even if it's internal."

The band have already shared two other singles from Tear Me To Pieces - Real Life and the title track. "I think this album will be a defining moment in our career," Phillips shared. "When our fans hear it, they'll be like, 'Oh, shit, these dudes are ready to go!' This is the sound of a band putting everything into it. If a new band came out with this album, I'd be texting everyone in my band about it."

Story Of The Year's debut album, Page Avenue, released in September 2003, was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA) in 2004 and Platinum in March 2021.

On the titular track, Phillips explains,

 "Perhaps more than any song on the record, Tear Me to Pieces checks all of the boxes in regards to what best defines Story Of The Year – anthemic pop choruses balanced with guttural screams, high energy punk rock inspired drums, dark-ish lyrics, and aggressive guitar riffs. This one song runs the gamut.”

Vocalist Dan Marsala concurs with Phillips, adding, 

 "This song fully represents the lyrical and musical vibe of the entire album,  that’s why we chose it to be the opening track and album title as well. Tear Me To Pieces puts you in the right mindset to hear the best record Story Of The Year has recorded in a long time".

Story Of The Year will accompany Slipknot, Parkway Drive, Megadeth, Trivium, Northlane and many more at the inaugural Knotfest Australia in March 2023.
