The incident comes just days out from the band’s headlining slot at Bass In The Domain.

The Jungle Giants’ frontman Sam Hales has undergone surgery, following a recent motor accident. Sharing a photo of Hales to social media, the Brisbane band revealed the news, saying that Hales is “okay” after coming out of “a surgery that will hopefully help him be back in action soon.”
This announcement comes just one day before The Jungle Giants are set to headline Tasmania’s Bass In The Domain festival. The band told fans that they will not be performing, though some band members will do a DJ set at the festival. According to their post, the accident only occurred in the last 48 hours, and as such, they “understand everyone’s disappointment.”
“We appreciate that none of this is ideal,” The Jungle Giants wrote. “Thank you for your understanding.”
The band is directing any concerned Bass In The Domain punters to the festival’s Instagram page, where organisers are “ready to reply to any queries about refunds/event info.”

Hales has been inundated with well wishes and messages of support from fans and fellow artists.
Bass In The Domain is set to take place tomorrow at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. Aside from The Jungle Giants, the line-up includes Teenage Dads, Old Mervs, DICE, and fellow Brisbane natives JUNO. Lasca Dry, Bonsai, Lauren Yates, Sam McMeekin, and The Pillars will also make an appearance.
The Jungle Giants recently announced their first national tour in two years, starting in April. So far, nothing has been said on the future of these gigs, but Hales’ health will likely impact this too.
The 8-stop tour kicks off soon, with The Jungle Giants playing their first show in Sydney on the 4th of April. They’ll then hit Newcastle on the 5th, Melbourne on the 12th, and Frankson on the 13th. Flying north next, the Brisbane icons will play their hometown on the 25th, before heading down to Brunswick Heads on the 26th. Flying across the ditch after that, The Jungle Giants will close out their tour in New Zealand, with a show in Auckland on May 2, and a final gig in Wellington on May 3.
Joining them - and warming up the dance floor - will be special DJ sets from Sycco and their Extended Family during the Australian shows, while Park RD will be the support act in New Zealand. Tickets are on sale now. Find details here.
