The Vains have long been a staple of the Adelaide music scene.

First formed in 2019, the band consists of members Rhia Dickson Libby, Verrall Shara Klecka, and Madeleine Cossey. Self described as “angry girl rock and roll,” the all-female four-piece have garnered a reputation as fierce and electrifying. Their riotous singles inspire euphoric head-banging when played live.

But now all of that is coming to a close.

Yesterday the South Australia Music Award-nominated band took to Instagram to announce that, after an “incredible journey” together, they were choosing to say goodbye.

With this farewell came the announcement of one final gig, to take place at beloved institution of punk chaos The Crown and Anchor on Friday, May 30th. What better place is there to rock out at one last time?

At their farewell show, The Vains will be joined by punk/hardcore four-piece Stabbitha and the Knifey Wifeys, alternative punk outfit Bitchspawn, and queercore band Church Moms.

In a joint statement, The Vains wrote, “This isn’t the end of the love we share as friends – just the closing of a beautiful chapter. We’re so proud of the music we've created, the memories we’ve made, and the moments shared with all of you!

“We're sharing the stage with our beautiful friends at one of our favourite venues! So come celebrate with us one last time, let’s make it a night to remember xoxo.”
