When you look at the comments on Larissa Lambert’s recent Instagram posts, you would assume she’s an international heavy hitter with awards and collaborations to her name. You wouldn’t think an artist from Sydney would receive messages of approval from the likes of SZA, Ty Dolla $ign, and Craig David.
Lambert’s international profile has grown massively in the last week, solidifying her as “your favourite artist’s favourite artist” – a title also held by Aussie outfit Hiatus Kaiyote, for whom Doja Cat has vocally expressed love.
Lambert’s international star has grown in the last week. Justin Bieber started following her on Instagram. Earlier this week, she shared a cover of Pimmie’s Dillemma by Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Pimmie, which has clocked up three million views on TikTok and nearly one hundred thousand likes on Instagram.
R&B sensation SZA shared the video on her Instagram Stories and commented, “What the heck? This is masterful.” She isn’t the only one who commented on the video: Additional hip-hop and R&B icons Craig David, Ty Dolla $ign, Timbaland, and Mahalia also complimented Lambert’s cover.
According to a press release, Lambert has received direct messages from Ty Dolla $ign, Mario, and Swae Lee. Is an international collab in her sights?
The international acclaim for Lambert comes as she embarks on her first-ever headline tour of Australia this April and May, performing at Melbourne’s Max Watts, Brisbane’s Wonderland, and Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory. First and second release tickets are sold out.
