Travis Scott Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Hotel Security Guard

Travis Scott (real name Jacques Bermon Webster II) has been arrested after allegedly getting into a fight with a security guard and his own bodyguard at a luxury hotel in Paris, France, NBC News reports. The alleged incident happened on Friday (9 August).

In NBC News’ report, the Paris prosecutor confirmed the news in a statement. “I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested the rapper nicknamed Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard,” the statement said.

The hotel security guard reportedly intervened in an altercation between the rapper and his own bodyguard. According to The Guardian, numerous sources within the French media alleged that Scott was drunk at the time of the alleged incident.

Police are still investigating the alleged altercation. The Paris prosecutor’s office has “referred the case to the 1st district of the judicial police” and aims to “swiftly resolve this matter” with local authorities.

Meanwhile, a representative for Scott claimed that the rapper had been “chased and harassed” by paparazzi since arriving in Paris for the Olympics “with no help given”.

Scott was arrested after watching the men’s Olympic basketball semifinal on Thursday. The U.S. team narrowly defeated Serbia to advance to the final with a chance at winning gold. How this incident will impact Scotts’s upcoming Australian tour is unclear.

Over the weekend, Scott was released from French police custody without charges, with the Paris prosecutor’s office arguing that “the police custody order for Travis Scott has been lifted and all proceedings [against him] were terminated because the incident was minor,” per The Canberra Times.

In June, Scott was arrested and charged with both trespassing on property and disorderly intoxication just days before his European tour was set to begin.

Scott was reported to have been allegedly shouting at individuals on a yacht before police showed up at 1 AM to escort him out of the vessel.

The rapper was reported to have been rejecting police instructions to exit the boat, finally choosing to leave with a slew of obscenities shouted at the yacht crowd as he walked backwards to authorities. Scott had allegedly been drinking and argued, “It’s Miami.”

Scott returned to the yacht after being escorted away, where he was arrested and faced charges, all acquitted with a $US650 bond ($947).
