Underscores has announced her first-ever run of Australian tour dates, setting course for a short trip in just a few months.

The trek will start in Perth (Boorloo) on Saturday June 1, when April Harper Grey takes the stage at The Naval Store. She’ll head to Brisbane (Meanjin) next, playing The Zoo on the following night (June 2), before hitting the Corner Hotel in Melbourne (Naarm) on Tuesday June 4, and the Machine Hall Precinct in Sydney (Eora) on Wednesday June 5.

The lattermost show comes as part of the program for this year’s VIVID Live festival, where Underscores will appear alongside the likes of Yves Tumor, Arca, Sky Ferreira, Yasiin Bey, Deerhoof and Explosions In The Sky (among many others).

Tickets for all four shows are on sale now – find them here.

The tour comes in support of Underscores’ acclaimed second album, Wallsocket, which arrived last September as her first release on Mom+Pop Records. A sprawling concept album set in the fictional town of Wallsocket, Michigan, the record was supported by the singles Cops And Robbers, You Don’t Even Know Who I Am, Locals (Girls Like Us), Old Money Bitch and Johnny Johnny Johnny.

In a press release, Underscores said of the story behind Wallsocket: “I emerged from an obsessive episode adopting this mentality that everything is beautiful. Wallsocket is about realising that most things are, but not everything is. Wallsocket is about navigating adulthood as an American and reckoning with one’s circumstance.”
