More Vacations More Vacations

Aussie indie rock outfit Vacations’ star is set to rise even more. After releasing their latest album, No Place Like Home, this month, the band is promoting new music by scoring the music slot on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Writing in excitement about the news, the band shared a Jimmy Kimmel Live! promo shot with the caption, “ahHHHHHHH”.

The news was met with excitement from fans. One commenter wrote, “just fell to my knees in the middle of Costco”, another exclaimed, “WE MADE IT VACATIONERS”, while another said, “What the ding dong 🔥😍😮 i am running out of shock expressions”. In a relatable comment, another fan wrote, “😢 y'all are getting too big now everyone's gonna know you....love that for y'all but I wanted you all to myself”.

Vacations have found massive success in the US, with the band gaining their second Platinum certification in December for their 2018 track Telephones.

The news arrived just under ten months after the four-piece outfit earned their first Platinum certification in February 2023 (thanks to their 2015 single, Young).

Earlier in their career, Vacations were one of the first Australian bands to go viral on TikTok, with Young (the lead single from their 2016 EP Vibesblowing up in the early months of 2021. The moment kickstarted the band’s international success, and Young was certified Gold – shifting half a million equivalent units – a year later. Vacations were added to triple j rotation after they already had one billion streams to their name.

In a recent The Music interview, Vacations singer Campbell Burns discussed his move to the US last year and finding greater success overseas than in Australia.

“My dream when I was a teenager was that I just wanted to play the Enmore Theatre. But we now play venues that are larger than that in the US on a regular basis,” Burns said. “So I've already surpassed that, which is bizarre to think about.”

He continued, “I mean, I haven't played the Enmore in Australia yet, but…” When asked if a show at the Enmore was on the cards, Burns responded, “Well, I'd like to think so. If Australia can’t catch up, I dunno. That’s probably why I moved to the US in the first place.

“There's a lot more going on in the States for the band right now compared to Australia, so it felt like my calling.”

After their performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, fans can watch Vacations across the country for Laneway Festival. You can find the timetables for each date here.
