Melbourne duo Willow Beats have announced they will be going an an "indefinite hiatus" following two final shows this year.

In a statement posted to Facebook on Monday, group member Kalyani Mumtaz said the decision is something she and Narayana Johnson have been "mulling over for a while".

"I have worked on this project since the age of 14 (I'm 21 now) and am ready for some time to work on new things and explore myself as an artist and person outside of this all consuming project," the post reads.

"I want to give a huge thanks to everybody who’s been apart of this crazy journey! We both need some time to work on our art and selves. I’m sure you’ll see/ hear us round! Thank you so much for the continued support. We honestly have the most incredible supporters."
