"They put on a high energy performance, as could be seen from the number of topless, sweaty males up the front jumping around."
Preparing for the first night of two sold-out shows at Corner Hotel, crowds lined up around the corner, eager to have their tickets scanned and get in.
Inside was a flurry of people trying to get a beer, get a spot and headbang to Dear Seattle, hailing from Sydney's Northern Beaches. They got the crowd warmed up with their indie-punk sound and up the front was not a place for the faint of heart.
When Hockey Dad took to the stage, the crowd were more than ready, cheering them on and screaming as the curtains lifted and the Windang boys got ready to play some tracks, new and old. Hailing 2018 as their "best year yet" they definitely didn't disappoint.
They played a good variety of tracks from 2016's Boronia, but started out with I Wanna Be Everybody from their new album, Blend Inn. They followed on with tracks such as So Tired, Danny, Sweet Release, Homely Feeling, Can't Have Them and I Need A Woman. They put on a high energy performance, as could be seen from the number of topless, sweaty males up the front jumping around. It was apparent that everyone in attendance was having the time of their lives as beers were thrown around and the more eager crowd surfed their way through the set.

When the gig ended many moved on to neighbouring bars while the rest called it a night and headed home. It was fun, high energy and sweaty; for the first of three nights at the Corner the boys put on a cracker of a show and it will only get better from here. If you have a chance to get along, you won't regret it.
