Album Review: Joe Pug - Windfall

Austin-based troubadour Joe Pug returns with his third album after a lengthy stint of reflection during which he almost turned his back on music.

Instead he re-enters the fray with a new creative direction favouring staple singer-songwriter fare rather than his usual Americana. It’s mellow and melancholic, with focus falling on his strong voice and lyrics – primarily narrative tales of resilience and facing challenges head on, with strongly fleshed-out characters the norm. Whether autobiographical or fiction, Pug’s message of perseverance and redemption is quietly inspiring.
