The Consumption - The People vs. Carmen Sandiego

"Too often they fell back on easy gags, crotch shots abound."

The Consumption start strong in their new sketch comedy show. The opening sketches blend live performance, voiceover and video seamlessly, demonstrating a sharp proficiency for multi-media that can so often go awry.

With a vivacious energy and a clever improv gag that bookends the show, there was certainly a lot to enjoy here. But the comic timing was often slightly off, sketches dragged on too long and punch lines didn't land. The best moments were the most original — particularly the brilliant Carmen Sandiego plot that runs throughout, boasting surprisingly high production values — but too often they fell back on easy gags, crotch shots abound.
