"The relentless optimism veers toward the bland after a while."
Not exactly prolific, Michael "Touch Sensitive" Di Francesco has finally unveiled his debut album.
While there's no doubting the man has talent, it's a safe yacht-disco record with plenty of familiar tropes; Italio-house chords and occasional Sam Smith-esque warbling.
It packs in more sunshine per second than a Bali holiday but the relentless optimism veers toward the bland after a while. It's a shame that Di Francesco's debut doesn't take more chances and show us the full range of what he's capable of.
