Album title? You Are Not You
Where did the title of your new album come from? The album is about people and how blind we all are to our selfishness and apathy. There's a big rant in the last track and the lyric "you are not you" features heavily.
How many releases do you have now?: This is our debut album. Before this we've done an EP, a split 7" and a bunch of singles.
How long did it take to write/record? 30 years maybe? I turn 30 on the day it comes out. The writing, recording, artwork and pressing process took about 12 months, including a couple of single releases and a national tour.
Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? Musically: Frameworks, Purity, Loma Prieta, Pianos Become The Teeth, The Blood Brothers, Old Gray. Thematically: people who irritate me, including myself.
What's your favourite song on it? Probably Dream//Fabrication because it's ridiculous. There's a part at the end where I'm playing in 5/4 but singing in 3/4.
Will you do anything differently next time? We're going to record an entire album live on the Today Show while I get a tattoo of Karl Stefanovic's reaction face (from when he ate the Flaming Ron).
When and where is your launch/next gig? Jan 27, Babushka Leederville with Statues, Joys and Flossy.
