Adelaide alt pop singer songwriter aleksiah has been wasting no time since being plucked from Unearthed by triple j last year after uploading her single Fern, earning high rotation and turning some serious industry heads.
Today her second single Ant Song (not to be confused with Ant Music) has dropped and takes things to a whole new level with a seriously great pop hook that should make Australia stand up and take notice. But sorry industry.... Like heading on a Tinder date and glancing down to see a wedding ring, aleksiah is dropping the mic today, announcing a pretty great team of industry heavyweights ready to guide her already impressive career.
Chugg Music have stepped in to a co-management deal with Danish company Stellar Trigger, a global marketing powerhouse with names like Joji, Lukas Graham and Nicky Youre under their belts. Of course Chugg Music are no slouches either with CEO Andrew Stone taking out Manager of the Year at the recent AAM Awards after global success with Lime Cordiale, Sheppard and Teenage Dads.
"aleksiah is one of the new generation of artists who really understand how to connect with an audience," said Stone on the signing. "aleksiah uses all the tools that artists have available to them today, but at her core she’s a career songwriter, performer and creative soul. Chuggi, Mark, and the team are excited to be working with aleksiah, and we know she has a huge future ahead!’
The team has also expanded to the live arena via Select Music, with Senior Agent Casey O'Shaughnessy stepping in to create a live music plan with the Chugg team.
‘From the moment I first heard aleksiah’s song Fern, to the moment I saw her play live for the first time, I have been absolutely blown away by her," said O’Shaughnessy. "I immediately knew I wanted to be a part of her journey and am very honoured to welcome her to the Select Music roster. I look forward to being by her side, helping to kick her goals for her live career."
Earlier this week, she was chosen by TikTok as one of four special guest artists to take place in TikTok Song Hubs 2023. aleksiah will be one of 11 emerging songwriters, artists and producers collaborating on new commercially-viable songs at the end of July, ahead of Adelaide’s Indie-Con.
Her press release likens her to indie royalty like Phoebe Bridgers and Julia Jacklin and there's no question the songwriting prowess is there, but Ant Song shows a commercial maturity that could see aleksiah make the difficult Billie Eilish style leap from the alternative scene across to the mainstream.
