Brisbane Artist Hope D Named 2020 Carol Lloyd Award Recipient

Brisbane singer-songwriter Hope D has scored significant funding towards her next release, thanks to the 2020 Carol Lloyd Award.

The Queensland talent joins Sahara Beck (2019), Leanne Tennant (2018) and Georgia Potter (2017) as the latest recipient of the $15,000 award in honour of the late Carol Lloyd, an initiative that supports emerging femxle-identifying or non-binary singer-songwriters in Queensland by helping them record an album or record and tour an EP.

“Being recognised as a recipient for such an important award means that I have a correlation with the brave, talented and groundbreaking woman that was Carol Lloyd, and the effect that she had on us,” Hope D said.

“Having something like this directed at womxn in the industry is such a huge help as it is quite difficult to make a mark in a predominantly male industry. This means that we can keep being recognised as music makers and so much more with these greater resources and a brighter spotlight.”

QMusic CEO Angela Samut added: “Congratulations to Hope D who we are extremely proud to honour with this award and help support her rising music career.
