As a member of countless musical projects including Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Dirty Three, Grinderman and stacks more, Warren Ellis is no stranger to the spotlight. Now, the multi-instrumentalist is using his platform in an incredible way, announcing initial plans for a brand new wildlife sanctuary - Ellis Park.
Located in South Sumatra, Indonesia, Ellis Park has been made possible thanks to the musician purchasing a huge portion of land adjacent to the Sumatra Wildlife Centre.
"For a long time I have wanted to get involved with helping animals but was never sure where and what to do," according to a statement from Ellis on the official website of the project.
"Eventually my family and I were able to purchase and donate the land to Jakarta Animal Aid Network.
"So it is with great pleasure we are able to announce the construction of Ellis Park wildlife sanctuary. A beautiful work in progress."
