Metallica played their first "one-night-only" show of the year over the weekend, just like what's to come in Australia in November.

Over the weekend, Metallica played their first show of the year.
They performed a career-spanning set on Saturday (19 April) at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York, and, unlike the “no-repeat weekends” that populated much of their 2024 tour schedule, it was a “one-night-only” show—just like what’s to come on their Australian tour.
Throughout the set, the American heavy metal icons played 16 songs from nine of their ten albums, playing tracks from each album aside from 2003’s St. Anger. For their remaining US dates, Metallica will also perform one-night-only shows in Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas.
For the first one-night-only show of the year, Metallica opened the set with the Ride The Lightning classic, Creeping Death. From there, they launched into fan-favourites including Hit The Lights, King Nothing, Fuel, Nothing Else Matters, One, Seek & Destroy, Master Of Puppets, and Enter Sandman.
The band may change the set slightly for their upcoming one-night-only shows, but it’s likely the concerts will remain similar to allow for production and other touring costs (this punter hopes Harvester Of Sorrow is added in Australia). Check out the setlist below.
Metallica announced their long-awaited return to Australia in October. This is their first run of tour dates Down Under since they headlined Soundwave Festival in 2013. The band will perform in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, and Auckland with special guests Suicidal Tendencies and Evanescence.
