Phoebe Bridgers And Maggie Rogers Cover Goo Goo Dolls

Phoebe Bridgers and Maggie Rogers fans know that the pair covered the Goo Goo Dolls' hit, Iris after Joe Biden won the US Presidential Election.

Ahead of the election in November 2020, Bridgers tweeted, "if trump loses I will cover iris by the goo goo dolls". True to her word, she enlisted Rogers for a collaboration. They released the cover as a Bandcamp download for 24 hours, with all proceeds going to Democrat Stacey Abrams' voting protection program, Fair Fight.

Overnight, Bridgers and Rogers have re-released Iris on Bandcamp for 24 hours, with proceeds this time being donated to the referral-based abortion needs organisation, The Brigid Alliance.

During her recent Glastonbury set, Bridgers used her platform to voice her opinions on the overturning of Roe v. Wade. This landmark 1973 decision found there was a constitutional right to abortion. The court's unprecedented move has allowed more than half of US states to ban abortion, with an immediate impact on tens of millions of Americans, as the laws are in the hands of individual states. 

"In all honesty, [Glastonbury] is like super surreal and fun, but I'm having like the shittiest day," Bridgers told the crowd. "Are there any Americans here? Who wants to say 'Fuck the Supreme Court' on three?" she shouted to a sea of tens of thousands before leading a chant of "Fuck the Supreme Court!" and concluding, "Fuck that shit. Fuck America. Like, fuck you. All these irrelevant old motherfuckers trying to tell us what to do with our fucking bodies."

Maggie Rogers last toured Australia in 2019. At her Tivoli show, we remarked, "The arrangements are fuller, heavier, more viscous as if feeding off the hearts and souls of those in attendance. 2016's Dog Years is dedicated to her new friend Stella Donnelly and shows the strength of Rogers' early songwriting. We didn't need a famous man in a hat to tell us that."
