Album Review: Buzzcocks - Time's Up

The punk tsunami that followed Sex Pistols' headline Lesser Free Trade Hall gigs in Manchester hadn't even hit the ground when these (now remastered) 1976 Buzzcocks demos with Howard Devoto on vocals (before his departure for Magazine) were recorded.

Forty years on, the first takes of Orgasm Addict and Boredom still sound kinetic and dangerously raw. Released in companionship with an opulent box-set (unpreviewed) and the debut four-track Spiral Scratch EP, the digital format is an indignant way to celebrate such an exciting pivotal point of musical history but the music itself still pogos.
