After gaining a staggering 1 billion streams in China with his hit single Mind On You, Australian hip-hop and R&B artist Jaycee is taking his talents to the global stage with the announcement of his Mind On You 2025 China Tour.

Kicking off on April 27 in Shenzhen, the tour marks a historic moment for the Perth-based singer-songwriter. He becomes one of the first independent Australian hip-hop acts to headline a tour in mainland China.

Jaycee started humbly as a local artist in Perth but has carved out a unique pathway that few have walked. His thriving Chinese fan base has been built through his unwavering commitment to his sound and authenticity.

“It feels amazing. You know, I had big dreams of doing the Hollywood thing… I guess God had bigger plans for me,” Jaycee says. “It’s really opened my eyes to a whole new world and market that I really resonate with.”

For Jaycee, he doesn’t feel that he’s only representing Perth or the West Coast, but Australia as a nation. "Honestly, it's probably the first of its kind," he proudly says. Yet, despite his growing success, he remains grounded, admitting, "This was never part of the plan.”

Jaycee, currently in Vietnam, is preparing for his Mind On You Tour. ”The show I’m doing on the tour is one I’ve never done before," he explains. "It’s going to be a real production."

With an hour-and-a-half performance in each city and featuring 24 songs, Jaycee has recruited a Chinese drummer to help elevate the backing beats, ensuring that each song offers something immersive and fresh for his new audience. "This is the longest I’ve ever performed, and it’s shaping up to be a truly unique experience," he adds.

Even though the tour is yet to begin, Jaycee feels a strong connection to his Chinese audience, a bond that will shape the direction of his future projects.

“I’m conceptualising a project right now; that’s why I’m here in Asia," he reveals. "I just need to be around it." His upcoming work will reflect this new cultural influence as he integrates the distinct vibe and imagery of the region.

Social media has played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between Jaycee and his global audience. With over 1.3 million followers on TikTok, he credits these platforms for facilitating his music's exposure: "I was one of the first artists during the pandemic in 2020 to jump on TikTok, and I was just blown away by it.”

His use of the app has built a strong connection with fans in ways that were previously unimaginable. "Social media has been huge in helping me get closer to my fans and share my music. I just ran with it, and now I have my following there.”

Jaycee adds that he wishes to seize this unique yet well-deserving opportunity. "This is not just going to be a one-off song with a billion streams and then back to Perth,” he promises. “It’s a new creative phase for me, and I plan to make a lasting association with China and Asia.”
