For those in Adelaide experiencing Fringe season withdrawals, never fear: the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in all its scintillating glory will be here to brighten your winter. After all, they don’t call South Australia the Festival State for nothing.

This year, the Adelaide Cabaret Festival is celebrating 25 years of glitter and chaos and true authenticity. As such, they have promised to throw a birthday party “so fabulous, even the confetti will be covered in sequins!” These arbiters of marvellous cabaret encourage one and all to “BLING IT ON!”

The festivities will take place over twelve nights, from June 5th to June 21st. The Cabaret Festival Artistic Director, award-winning Australian actor, writer, and personality, Virginia Gay, has just revealed a program of 77 stunning performances scheduled for this packed stretch of June. The shows will be held across Adelaide Festival Centre and Her Majesty's Theatre.

The festivities will commence with the 2025 Variety Gala on Thursday June 5th, hosted by Virginia Gay.

And the shows to follow are looking pretty splendid.

Seven-time Grammy Award-winning artist Jacob Collier will join the Adelaide Cabaret Festival for a live performance filled with improvisation, audience participation and never-before-heard arrangements. Composing legend Hans Zimmer once said of Collier, “There's musicianship and then there's genius, and then way, way, way above all that, out in the stratosphere, is Jacob Collier.” So this clearly won’t be a performance to miss.

Australian icon Jessica Mauboy will be performing for one night only at Her Majesty’s Theatre. The show promises to be an intimate look at the artist, where she will share her extraordinary journey through music and stories, spanning her rise to fame, career challenges, and personal triumphs.

A mainstay of the Australian cabaret scene, queer legend Reuben Kaye is also set to bring the house down with his ribald hit show enGORGEd.

To dust off your latex and pop the champagne - winter in Adelaide is looking pretty fabulous.
