Sheppard have addressed a headline they spotted from news.com.au, stating that “It’s never easy seeing your low points splashed across headlines.”

Last week, band member Emma Sheppard revealed that the Australian pop group had sold 59 tickets for a show in Warsaw, Poland, but the show went on for the devoted fans who bought tickets.

Taking to Instagram Stories last week, Emma Sheppard wrote, “We’ve gone from playing to huge crowds to literally 59 people in Poland. But you know what?

“We show up for those people and it’s going to be the best damn show they’ve seen. It’s never about quantity but quality, and we have the best fans that show up for us.”

She added that the music industry is “far from perfect, “but what is important is showing up for your fans and believing in what you do.”

The headline from news.com.au on social media read, “59 tickets: Aussie band reveals brutal gig.” On the website, it’s different: “‘Far from perfect’: Sheppard reveals the crushing reality of life on the road.”

Additional posts from the band show that they’re proud to play in front of any audience, regardless of the number of people present.

Reacting to the social media headline, Sheppard wrote, “We’ve played to 100,000 people. We’ve played to 59. And somehow, the love in the room always feels the same.

“We won’t lie - we woke up to this article, and my stomach dropped with embarrassment. It’s never easy seeing your low points splashed across headlines. But then we took a breath and realised something important: showing up - even when it’s tough, even when it hurts - is something to be proud of.”

They added, “Touring in this day and age, especially as an independent band, is stupidly hard. Expectations are sky-high, budgets are impossibly tight, attention spans are short - and every night feels like an all-or-nothing gamble. We work our asses off. We’ve grinded and sacrificed sleep, comfort, stability - and sometimes our health - to keep this dream alive.

“Every single day, we deal with challenges and setbacks that would make most people want to pack it in. We’ve got trolls attacking us, telling us to give up. But we never will - because our fans deserve better. Whether you’re one of the 59 or one of the 100,000, you matter to us. You’re why we keep going.

“So yeah... it hurts. But we’re still standing. We’re still singing. And we’re not even close to done.”

Sheppard toured across Australia last October and November, playing to punters across the country.
