Ahead of triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2024 airing tomorrow, the national broadcaster has dropped its last teasers.
Per a press release, it’s been an epic year for voting and breaking Hottest 100 records. Today, triple j has revealed that two huge Hottest 100 records will be broken.
We don’t know what they are yet, but for last year’s countdown, G Flip set the new record for the most appearances in a single countdown, with seven tracks throughout. In 2016, the countdown hosted a record-breaking 66 Australian artists. For the 2019 countdown, 17 artists made their Hottest 100 debut, and nine artists appeared in the countdown for the third year in a row.
Other teaser stats triple j shared today include the following: Every song in this year’s top four would have been in with a chance to win last year if it had received the same number of votes. May produced the most Hottest 100 tracks, and we were feeling sweary in 2024, with seven C-bombs littered throughout the countdown (Amyl And The Sniffers’ Jerkin contains four C-bombs, just FYI).
In addition to the teasers, triple j revealed that voters have raised over $160,000 for We Are Mobilise, ensuring that those in need can have more than 3,500 nights of housing.
The 2024 triple j Hottest 100 countdown will begin tomorrow – Saturday, 25 January – from 12 pm AEDT.
