Not a full compilation of Christmas songs – although bookended by the first studio recordings of old WPA chestnuts The Adulterer's Christmas Time, Jolly Old Christmas Time and the spoken-word title track – Christmas Day At Spencer Street is a collection of unrecorded Mick Thomas tracks from all through his storied career, and the fact that it hangs together so well speaks volumes about his songwriting chops. A couple of choice covers further showcase his equally adroit knack of making other people's songs his own.
